If you live in the states – yes – you can’t file unless you’ve completed a trustee approved financial class…..he got scammed. I hope he didn’t give out all his credit #’s & soc sec & date of birth, etc….
Well, he said preliminaries, they most likely just got started and he will end up spending several hundred more to actually file and he will have to provide all the details. Depending on how complex his finances are, a bankruptcy can be only a few hundred to several thousand dollars.
